Bioeconomy at Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences is a 3.5-year full-time program (7 semesters) leading to the professional title of Engineer. This interdisciplinary and innovative course, conducted in English, is offered in collaboration with Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PWr). Through specialized courses and practical experiences, including a 4-week internship in bioindustry institutions after the 6th semester, students gain the expertise needed to succeed in this emerging field. The curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of the industry, offering semester projects that directly align with current market demands.
In the first year, students focus on general subjects such as economics, chemistry, mathematics, and statistics. The curriculum also introduces bioeconomy principles, biorenewable systems, and technical drawing. Additionally, students will learn the basics of programming, including Python, which will serve as a foundation for future courses.
The second year deepens the understanding of key subjects such as microbiology, bioorganic chemistry, and bioproduct processing. Students will explore the latest trends in bioscience and learn techniques for processing food and biomass. Courses will cover the impact of these processes on product quality, as well as process design and equipment selection.
